So what do we test for in our product?
Contamination
We aggressively test for foreign contaminates and adulterants, including active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) that have been finding their way into some of our competitors' products, and that have recently been identified in the marketplace.
For example, one crucial test we perform is an extensive procedure called Active Analysis for Adulterants. It specifically tests for 168 common adulterants and drugs frequently found in other products, including Sildenafil, Vardenafil, Tadalafil, and Acetildenafil.
None has ever been detected in any of our product testing, and we guarantee that they never will be in 112 Degrees.
Disintegration
This refers to a supplements ability to disintegrate and dissolve in a timely manner. Because some vitamins and dietary supplements have been found to pass through the human body without being absorbed—we consider this step an essential testing requirement. We want to ensure that our product will dissolve in a reasonable time frame to allow delivery of the bioactive components for absorption.
More specifically, we use the standard testing procedure, known as United States Pharmacopeia (USP) "Disintegration and Dissolution of Nutritional Supplements" method. This test looks to mimic the same environmental circumstances that a supplement would experience in the stomach after being ingested. The test involves the continuous agitation (like muscular movement of the stomach) of an acidic solution (like stomach acid) that contains the product under investigation. The supplement should be completely disintegrated in 45 minutes or less.
